AWS Config - 2023
AWS Config is a service that allows us to assess, audit, and evaluate the configurations of our AWS resources. It provides a historical record of our resource configurations and can help us ensure that our AWS environment complies with our organization's policies.
In this post, I will demonstrate the setup of the AWS Config service. I will intentionally create a compliance violation by making a bucket public, and then I'll demonstrate how AWS Config works to identify and report such violations.
Now, we want to see what's happening to our AWS config if we create a public bucket:
Now, on the dashboard, we can see that AWS Config caught the public bucket we just created:
We can stop AWS Config recorder by toggling the `Enable` button:
